MiCA Crypto Alliance Releases MiCA-Compliant White Paper for SaucerSwap (SAUCE)

November 17, 2025

The MiCA Crypto Alliance is pleased to announce the publication of the SAUCE MiCA White Paper, covering the native governance and incentive token of SaucerSwap, in full compliance with Regulation (EU) 2023/1114. The white paper was submitted in October 2025 under Irish jurisdiction and is now officially listed in the ESMA white paper registry.

This work builds upon the foundation laid with the HBAR MiCA White Paper, applying MiCA Title II white paper and disclosure obligations to a decentralised finance protocol’s native asset on Hedera. It supports SAUCE’s forthcoming admission to trading in the European Union.

Key Highlights from the White Paper

  • SAUCE is the native governance and incentive token of SaucerSwap, a decentralised exchange and liquidity protocol built on the Hedera network through non-upgradable, open-source smart contracts.
  • Classified as a crypto-asset other than an asset-referenced or e-money token (OTHR) under MiCA Title II, and identified as a non-utility token for the purposes of Article 3 of the regulation.
  • The token has a fixed maximum supply of one billion units. Five hundred million were minted at genesis, with the remainder issued according to a governance-approved allocation schedule.
  • Token functions include governance voting in the SaucerSwap DAO, liquidity incentives for automated market maker pools, and staking to earn a share of protocol trading fees.
  • Only existing circulating supply is admitted to trading. No new tokens are created for the listing, and the emission schedule and tokenomics remain unchanged.

About SaucerSwap

Launched in August 2022, SaucerSwap is the first DEX on the Hedera network, offering a full suite of decentralised finance (DeFi) services. Leveraging Hedera’s high-performance infrastructure, SaucerSwap enables fast, secure, and low-cost token swaps, staking, and liquidity provision. With over $150 million in total value locked and more than $3 billion in total swap volume, SaucerSwap has become a cornerstone of the Hedera DeFi ecosystem.

Strengthening regulatory clarity across the Hedera ecosystem

The SAUCE MiCA White Paper represents another step toward standardised, high-quality regulatory documentation across the Hedera ecosystem. By applying the MiCA Title II framework to a decentralised exchange token, this work shows how projects operating with decentralised infrastructure can meet emerging EU requirements while preserving technical integrity and governance principles.

SaucerSwap’s decision to voluntarily comply with MiCA disclosure obligations, despite fully decentralised services falling outside the scope of Recital 22, reinforces the value of clear and consistent disclosures. This approach supports market confidence and sets a precedent for exchanges, infrastructure providers, and decentralised finance projects preparing for the regulation’s full effect. As MiCA implementation accelerates, voluntary alignment is likely to become a practical advantage for projects seeking trust, resilience, and long-term adoption.
